Stirling - Scotland
Stirling information
Learn about Scotland's fascinating history on a winter break in Stirling. Though you may be aware of a certain Australian with blue and white face paint, the real Braveheart story is far more gripping than any Hollywood melodrama.
Visit the Wallace Monument, a 220 feet Gothic structure in the heart of Scotland. The monument commemorates the life of Scotland's most famous warrior, William Wallace, who masterminded the defeat of King Edward's army at the ancient Stirling Bridge.
Or put on your walking boots and head for the hills this winter - the Ochils and Trossachs are really close by, with a few Munros for serious walkers.
If you're visiting Stirling around the festival period, it's worth checking out Stirling's Winter Festival, including a musical concert to see in the new year on Hogmanay, complete with the stunning backdrop of Stirling Castle and the surrounding countryside.
