Re-opening of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum – 11th July 2006

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow, the most visited museum in the UK outside London, has now reopened after being closed for a £27.9 million refurbishment since the summer of 2003.

The new-look Kelvingrove has vastly increased space, fascinating new computer interactives and revolutionary ways of showcasing its art and artefacts.

Among other well-loved exhibits back on display will be Rembrandt’s Man in Armour; as well as masterpieces by Van Gogh, Whistler, Monet and Botticelli plus its unique arms and armour collection and Ancient Egyptian artefacts. The move of the legendary Salvador Dali painting Christ of St John of The Cross from its dwelling since 1993, the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, is seen by many as a return home.

Kylie salsas at Assembly - 6th August

Kylie Minogue stunned the audience at Assembly @ St George's West when she appeared on stage with Havana Rumba last Saturday night. Looking fantastic, she jumped on stage to join the cast for the finale. The singer is close friends with show director Toby Gough. She later commented that she thought the venue was great and that the show was 'hot'.
